Map Mop

Map Mop is the installation of a series of drawings on disposable mop pads. In 2018 I noticed what appeared to be patterns made by the dirt when I mopped. Central to these patterns was what I interpreted as a “V.” The phenomenon of seeing patterns where they don’t exist and establishing meanings from chaos is called pareidolia. By connecting perceived patterns, I create a map of my labor which takes new form as I respond to the needs and limitations of the space in which it is installed.
